WHITE HOUSE - This Thursday, for the first time in nine years, there won't be a White House ceremony in observance of the National Day of Prayer.

BHO says he will pray privately as he does daily ..

So do I...but it would be nice for him to support  openly standing  together ( even for one day) as a "Nation Under God!

This  is mystifyingly stupid. I mean, if he were an atheist and skipping it out of principle, I think most folks would understand that. Given the fact that he got baptized as an adult and parked his carcass in a radical church pew for twenty years, why wouldn't you hold the thing? I mean Clinton did it and its not like he's a real church going guy, though Hillary is and maybe it was her influence. Regardless, it just seems like its a leadership function, invite clerics from all 32 flavors and pray for the nation. No one gets left out, its not like we don't need it, and what's the harm?

Thanks BHO, you keep showing your a class act...and your un -American ass.  >:(

It is high time we eased the drought suffered by the Tree of Liberty. Let us not stand and suffer the bonds of tyranny, nor ignorance, laziness, cowardice. It is better that we die in our cause then to say that we took counsel among these.

I don't remember hearing about Howard's Day of Prayer observance. Was there one in Elk County?

I know we celebrated World Day of Prayer back in March. Did anyone do anything local about the National Day of Prayer?

I do not think that anyone had a formal day of prayer at any of the churches. I guess we are all 'asses' according to some people.

It's not too late.  Maybe you can have a day of prayer on the same day as the Hawaii "Islam Day"!  ;D  Anyway, everyday is a day of prayer.

HELP!  I'm talking and I can't shut up!

I came...  I saw...  I had NO idea what was going on...

Larry, many of the churches here have regular prayer meeting, plus prayer chains and special times of prayer for special circumstances. No lack of praying I can assure you. However the mayor does not lead the prayers at the city office, nor would it be expected of him. We have no state religion in this country and need be careful of imposing our own 'beliefs' as such. Whether or not, you, Obama or anyone else prayed on such and such a day is not my business nor anyone elses IMHO. BTW, I enjoy your posts; nice middle of the road for the most part, and very thoughtful. Thanks.

yeah, that's me middle of the road.  I once told an old time lumber jack that most of my opinions were "middle of the road" and he looked at me and said:  "the ones in the middle of the road are the most likely to get hurt first"!  ;D

Maybe if there are a whole bunch of us in the middle of the road they'll stop, or go around. Or maybe  go off in a ditch. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Larry I agree completely with your post. Everyday on this forum is a day of prayer. Anyone interested in praying can read posts by our very own Judy Harder in the Religious/Spiritual thread. She is almost a lone poster in that section of the forum. But I know of many people, myself included, that look at that section everyday.

Hey, heres one for you "middle roaders".

Rev.3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16) So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
