Kristi K. Stubbert, 36, died February 21, 2009 in St. Charles, Missouri.  Kristi Kaye Sharp was born in Sedan, Kansas to Dean and Kaye (Miller) Sharp on September 6, 1972.  She lived in Tupelo, Mississippi where her sister, Beth, joined the family.  The family lived in West Virginia and California before they moved to St. Charles County, Missouri in 1982.

After high school, Kristi moved to northern Alabama where she married John Malcolm Stubbert.  Daughter Sara was born in 1991.  Sara was the joy of her mother's life.  Baby Brennan Michael changed the lives of his parents, grandparents, and many others in his few days of life in 1993.  Kristi worked and attended Athens State College until she graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology in 2000.  She worked on replicating DNA for the Human Genome Project.  In 2002, Kristi and Sara moved to St. Charles.  Kristi worked at St. Louis University in mass spectrometry and proteomics.  In 2006, she went to work at Washington University School of Medicine where she was working as a senior research assistant at the time of her death.

Kristi accepted Jesus as her eternal savior very young in life.  She saw God's fingerprints in everything she studied.  Medicine was very interesting to her.  She began that journey at six months of age with the first of 30+ surgeries and procedures dealing with hip dysplasia.  Her interests changed from being a doctor to physical therapy.  Brennan's brief life redirected her to the study of genetics.  Though she lived with constant pain, she was determined to do good work and be a good mother to Sara.  She did and was.  Sara is better prepared to function in this world than most young women of her age.  She will graduate from high school in June and has many scholarship offers to further her excellent education.  She has been a loving caregiver and will continue to be a source of joy and pride to her mom and daddy and all who know and loved her.

Kristi was preceded in death by her son, Brennan; grandparents, Nellie and Richard (Bump) Miller of Grenola, Kansas and Joy Sharp of Willow Springs, Missouri; and her stepfather, Dan Palenchar.

Her father, Dean Sharp of Foristell, Missouri and mother and stepfather, Kaye (Miller) and Sid Spooner of Grenola, Kansas; sister, Beth Lawson; daughter, Sara Stubbert; niece and nephew, Sabrina Lawson and Travis Hubbard; and many friends already miss her presence with us but look forward in hope and peace to a painless eternity together in the fully experienced glory of God.

Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Grenola Christian Church, Grenola, Kansas.  Memorials are suggested to Sara Stubbert, c/o P.O. Box 141, Grenola, Kansas 67346 or the Shriners Hospital in the name of Kristi Stubbert.  Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services, St. Peters, Missouri was in charge of arrangements.
