You know........It's not about the taxes....it's about the spending. >:(
We have a governor that supports illegals and the Chamber or Commerce owns most of the Rino Republicans, we will be a 3rd world state before long with all the illegals having jobs and Kansan will be out of work.
Pelosi,  Reid and the Obama White House were absolutely certain about one thing for the House/Senate negotiating committee on the Stimulus Bill:
There was to be no special restriction to keep illegal aliens from getting new jobs created by the bill at a cost of $250,000 to $500,000 each.

I had someone e-mail me this article.. and added this comment...
"I wonder how long before other states begin to go broke.  I am a state employee in Colorado, we have already given up a cost of living increase this year, any performance bonuses or incentive awards, are now facing forced furloughs, and in the position that I am in will most likely loose my housing allowance, which will be a hit of $500/month.  I commute in a van pool 180 miles a day and that pool will also most likely go a way which means my expense to commute.  That will entail a much reduced net income.
But the gas fields are shutting down, and no other real jobs here on Western Slope....and now we have a government which is endebting our grand kids....just great.
Are things starting to look like a depression yet?"

Way back in the mid 70's I had a teacher that pointed out the only difference between a recession and a depression was the spelling.  His claim was that the choice of words was the financial sector's influence just like the Chamber of Commerce trying to influence bad weather forecasts prior to big weekends.

I wonder if those of us who are self-employed and due a refund, if we could just use the IOU against their 2009 tax payments?

HA! 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count!  >:( >:(

Go to a cash and carry operation.  Cash leaves no paper trail.

Any income tax refund can be applied to the next year's taxes.  There is a line that designates that if you want to do it.

Well your right wilma but i think the state ought to get their * together and cut the budget so that they can meet their obligations with what they get.   This reckless spending that is being done is just criminal.   IF theres a 350 million dollar deficit, then theres 350 million dollars that is being spent recklessly.

Our great Gov. is in Washington sniffing everyones bottom to make sure they know she wants that job. I say take her, she has not helped us. Kansas was in the black when she took office and look at Kansas now. I hope she goes because they were talking about her becoming the next Chancellor at Kansas University. If that happened we would not go to another football game.

Even though it is possible to apply your tax refund to next year's taxes, I wouldn't do it.  You'd be better off taking the refund and putting it on interest till next year's tax time.  The state doesn't pay interest on your surplus of taxes paid.

First.. how about cutting back on all the political fat cats pensions.. giving them the pay checks that 3/4 of the American population live on and make them totally accountable for all the horrendous wasteful spending that they do..THAT would be a huge help in the debt problem.

I believe those who receive undue welfare...those who are perfectly capable of working and being a productive member of society who CHOOSE out of laziness not to...

I believe it is all the money spent of free health care for for illegal immigrants, the money spent ensuring that those who come to our country NEVER have to adapt to our language, our culture...that we must conform to theirs...

Take all the money spent on those two worthless causes...and you can pay your state EMPLOYEES ( yes they ARE just our employees)  who go to WORK to EARN that paycheck that you TAXPAYERS so eagerly throw in their faces that you pay.

I suppose all the private sector employees should give up their jobs, go to work for the state, to insure that the state can still function safely, to insure that our next generation is still being educated...and by the way, you should do it all for FREE!

Socialism works until you run out of other people's money.
