Well, google has some issues with privacy and some of the things they've beeen doing.  Not sure if people here have heard of google earth, but google is using this technology to create a visual rendition of the entire world.  In most places, you can only see the topography right now but for the more populated places, like the SF bay area, you can zoom in pretty close.  For example i use the technology to see that my tire was a little low the day they took the picture of my house.  Google is currently being sued over this.
