Teddy M. "Ted" Miller, age 77, a resident of rural Howard, Kansas, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 11, 2009.  He was born on May 6, 1931 in Howard, the son of Glenn Orval and Margaret Jane (Clum) Miller.

On June 13, 1952, Ted was united in marriage to Janet Faye DeLaughder in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  From November 1953 to October 1955, Ted served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Ted was a farmer and rancher.  He was awarded the Bankers Award, Soil Conservation Award, KG&E Award for Conservation Completion, and this February with his brother Dan would have received the Grassland Award.  He was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church.  Other memberships included Elk County Farm Bureau Board where he served as President, Elk County Livestock Association, and Elk County Soil Conservation.

Ted is survived by his wife Janet, of the home; two sons, Kim Miller and Keat Miller, both of Howard, Kansas; one daughter, Debra Harris of Emporia, Kansas; one brother, Dan Miller of Howard, Kansas; one sister, Mary Buck of Severy, Kansas; and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2009 at Zimmerman Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Cryderman officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Cresco Cemetery.  Family suggests contributions to either the Howard United Methodist Church or the Greenwood County Home Health and may be left in care of the funeral home  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard, Kansas.
