The Rambo Granny of Melbourne, Australia

Gun-toting granny Ava Estelle, 81, was so ticked-off when two thugs raped
her 18-year-old granddaughter that she tracked the unsuspecting ex-cons
down and shot off their testicles.

The old lady spent a week hunting those men down, and when she found them,
she took revenge on them in her own special way, said Melbourne police
investigator Evan Delp. Then she took a taxi to the nearest police
station, laid the gun on the sergeant's desk and told him as calm as could be:
Those bastards will never rape anybody again, by God.'
Cops say convicted rapist and robber Davis Furth, 33, lost both his penis
and his testicles when outraged Ava opened fire with a 9-mm pistol in the
hotel room where he and former prison cellmate Stanley Thomas, 29, were
holed up. The wrinkled avenger also blew Thomas' testicles to kingdom
come, but doctors managed to save his mangled penis, police said. The one guy,
Thomas, didn't lose his manhood, but the doctor I talked to said he won't
be using it the way he used to, Detective Delp told reporters. Both men are
still in pretty bad shape, but I think they're just happy to be alive after
what they've been through.

The Rambo Granny swung into action August 21 after her granddaughter,
Debbie was carjacked and raped in broad daylight by two knife-wielding creeps in
a section of town bordering on skid row.

"When I saw the look on my Debbie's face that night in the hospital, I
decided I was going to go out and get those bastards myself 'cause I
figured the Law would go easy on them," recalled the retired library worker. "And
I wasn't scared of them, either because I've got me a gun and I've been
shootin' all my life. And I wasn't dumb enough to turn it in when the law
changed about owning one."

So, using a police artist's sketch of the suspects and Debbie's description
of the sickos, tough-as-nails Ava spent seven days prowling the
wino-infested neighborhood where the crime took place until she spotted the
rapists entering the flophouse hotel where they were staying.

"The minute I saw them, I took a picture of them, and took it back to
Debbie who she said sure as hell, it was them," the oldster recalled. "So I went
back to that hotel and found their room and knocked on the door and the
minute the big s.o.b. opened the door, I shot him right square between the
legs, right where it would really hurt. Then I went in and shot the other
one as he backed up pleading to me to spare him. Then I went down to the
police station and turned myself in."

Now, baffled lawmen are trying to figure out exactly how to deal with the
vigilante granny. "What she did was wrong, and she broke the law, but it
is difficult to throw an 81-year-old woman in prison," Det. Delp said,
especially when 3 million people in the city want to nominate her for Mayor
of Melbourne."

All I can say is "Amen, Go Granny Go!!!!!"

I hope enough people here in the USA are as smart when the government try outlaw guns here.

Go Granny!
Learn from the mistakes of others You can't live long enough to make them all yourself

I think house arrest for about 24 hours should be about right for that awful "Grannie crime." :P ;D ;D ;D

I say, fix the lady a tall glass of the hair of the dog and buy her a new, loaded clip for that gun.

I hate to spoil the fun, but Granbo has been floating around on the internet as an urban legend since the year 2000. I just looked this up on snopes, and as a first clue, people don't call someone else a bum no matter what they think about them. In Australia, the bum is what you sit upon. There are several other clues in the story that let you know that this is a fabrication.

Actually, last night on Inside Edition (nothing else to watch at the time)... they interviewed a woman in the U.S. who they called "Grambo".  A man broke into her home and she held him at gunpoint until the police arrived.  Then she sat down at the kitchen table and had a mild heart attack.

Maybe Snopes just didn't find that story, I say go Granny and Go Grambo. This type of self-defense is what we need more of in this country. A few months ago here in Bartlesville an 80+ year old woman kept a drunken man, that was wanting to assult her, at bay nearly all night. He had broken the glass out in her front door and was trying to reach in and unlock the door, she had a screwdriver and everytime he stuck his arm in she stabbed him. The man finally bled so much he passed out and the lady was able to call the police.  This won't show up on Snopes but it happened. Everyone really cheered this lady.

Happened in Indiana.

I agree that people need to take responsibility of their own safety.  It's too bad that old people have to do it, though... that more people are preying on them b/c of age and disability.  My grandma carries her cordless (and cell phone) w/ her in her apron around the house.  That way if something happens and she's away from the phone, she's got it w/ her.  My other grandma, on the other hand, takes her cell phone w/ her only when she goes to town... and she doesn't turn it on unless she needs to use it!

Guns and Ammunition are selling in greater numbers than ever in history, I have never seen people so concerned about their safety. I belong to Bartlesville Sportsman Club and the Rifle and pistol ranges are full all of the time. I have talked to a lot of the people that are there shooting, both men and women, young and old and they are concerned. People are taking the "Concealed Carry"  course and qualifying in record numbers in every state that has the program. We attended a massive gun show in Tulsa last weekend and the place was packed and people were buying guns at an absolutely unbelievable pace. There will be more Rambo Grannys out there in the future.
