March 27, 1908

Last Wednesday evening about five o'clock, while sawing wood with his brother on the old Campbell farm near Western Park (that's in Elk County), Will McLin fell against a circular saw and was instantly killed.  He was carrying a stick of wood and at the time had his back to the saw when he stepped on a round stick, throwing him off of his balance and directly on the saw.  He was killed instantly.

William L. McLin, son of J. H. and Elmira McLin was born in the state of Indiana, March 7, 1869 and departed this life March 11, 1908, age 39 years and 4 days.

Death is always sad, but sometimes as in the case of Will McLin its sadness is enhanced by the fact that he was called to meet death in the vigor and strength of young manhood and without a moment's notice.  And yet earth's sorrows are not without their compensation, and in this case the fact that Will McLin had lived in a state of readiness for this great change which must sooner or later come to each and all of us, will be of great comfort and consolation to his loved ones.

He united with the Baptist church in 189 (?) and was a member of the same at the time of his death.  He was an honest and upright Christian man, one who had the confidences of all who knew him.  He leaves a father, mother and four brothers to mourn his sudden and sorrowful death.  The funeral service was held at the Baptist church in this city and the pastor, Rev. Searcy (?) spoke or "Readiness to Meet Death."  (Luke 12:40)
