Harry Clifford Chandler, age 97, a resident of Severy, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 28. 2008 at Harry Hynes Hospice Unit in Wichita, Kansas.  Harry was born October 7, 1911 in Springdale, Arkansas, the son of Barry and Virginia (Ellis) Chandler.

On August 11, 1936, Harry married Charlotte Mae Cummings in Wichita, Kansas, and she preceded him in death of January 23, 2002.  Harry owned and operated his own trucking company.  He was a member of the Sunflower Masonic Lodge in Wichita, Kansas and also a member of the Teamsters when he worked for J. T. Transport in the 1950s.  In his spare time, Harry enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by four sons, Harry Chandler Jr. of Chula Vista, California, Jack Chandler of Severy, Kansas, Jerry Chandler of Fayettville, Georgia, and David Chandler of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Judy Kittman of Zapata, Texas; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Private interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery.  Family suggest contributions to the American Lung Association and may be left with the funeral home.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
