I know everyone has a different opinion on the war and our current President, but, this article makes a lot of sense so take 2 minutes, read it and give it some thought.

When electing the next President, 'the only decision you have to make is who you want sitting in that seat in the White House when - not if - WHEN we get hit again and millions of American lives are put at risk!'
This is from: 'You ain't gonna like losing.'

Author unknown.

President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on terrorism. But the mistake was not his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush's mistake came in his belief that this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII.

It is not.

Back then, they had just come out of a vicious depression. The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression, but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew that the people had elected their leaders, so it was the people's duty to back those leaders.
Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together, rallied behind, and stuck with their leaders, whether they had voted for them or not or whether the war was going badly or not.
And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war.
But that did not matter. The people stuck with the President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to win that war.
Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to gather scrap metal for the war effort. Grade school students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to help the effort.
Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age or condition trying their best to join the military. Women doubled their work to keep things going at home.
Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap, to butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.
You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling the President. Interestingly enough in those days there were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and complain to them about our President. Instead, they made upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the troops' morale. And a bunch even enlisted.
And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the day off with a Pledge of Allegiance, and with prayers for our country and our troops!
Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared complain about what we were doing to catch spies. A newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it had complained that German or Japanese soldiers were being 'tortured' by being forced to wear women's underwear, or subjected to interrogation by a woman, or being scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning.

There were a lot of things different back then. We were not subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography, perversion and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did not have legions of crack heads, dope pushers and armed gangs roaming our streets.

No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling of terrorism. He made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage and fortitude of our fathers. He believed that this was still the country that our fathers fought so dearly to preserve.

It is not the same country. It is now a cross between Sodom and Gomorra and the land of Oz. We did unite for a short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we found out that defending our country would require some sacrifices.

We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic Muslims. They believe that it is okay, even their duty, to kill anyone who will not convert to Islam. It has been estimated that about one third or over three hundred million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists cause... Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many potential recruits. So... We either win it - or lose it -

and you ain't gonna like losing.

America is not at war. The military is at war.  America is at the mall, or watching the movie stars.

(Remember Obama said in his book 'Audacity of Hope', 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction'.....what better place for the Muslims to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA.)

I have read this before...and it still bears reading again.  Thank you for posting it.

Sorry, but this is just full of misstatements, the last of which was the Muslim thing and Obama. He said he would stand with the Muslim community of United States citizens should they be persecuted because of 911. Please get your stuff right, I don't mind that you disagree with me, but at least use some common sense and don't work to spread what you know is a lie. I would not dream of saying that about the other candidate, although his running mate has some suspicious ties with a secessionist group and it is now rumored that McCain himself has ties with AlQueda.  ;) ;)

And if the dems should lose, I will pray each day for the good health of John McCain, as I fell that Sarah Palin is a very dangerous person who is power hungry to the max.

Well, as I stated, this IS NOT my own work, my own writing, my own anything. I just copied and pasted. But, you did leave the door open here. I knew as I copied and pasted this, you wouldn't like the Obama standing with the Muslims part. You said it was FULL of mis-statements, yet that is the only part of this story you mentioned. Care to enlighten us on the rest of these so called mis-statements?

Dick Cheney and George Bush misled the nation about the Iraq invasion. There were no wmds, and there are no plans to exit that country in any fashion. John McCain said early this year that we could expect to be in Iraq for 100 years, he also said (sang), Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran, showing a knee jerk reaction to what could be a very dangerous situation in that country. We have currently lost nearly 5,000 military in Iraq. This does not count the civilian forces or other americans serving in other fashion there. The administration will not disclose the number of civilian forces (blackwater) that are serving in Iraq. The Iraqi government has expressed their displeasure with the civilian troops because of their quality. I believe that blackwater employs ex-cons as well as gang members because of their ruthlessness. The whole Iraq thing has turned into worse than Viet Nam, a never ending drain and certainly has not addressed Al Queda. And we are losing the respect of ourselves as well as the world.

Many many democrats (including myself) voted for George Bush against their better judgement in 2004 simply because of the war and the fear that ousting a sitting president would make the country appear weak. But the administration failed to hear the pleas to get out of Iraq, and stop the sensless sacrifice of our young people. The myth that they are fighting Al Queda there is no longer ringing true.

I will never agree with torture, and certainly cannot condone waterboarding as this administration has done. The article you posted mentioned WWII in regard to torture. Are you aware that the United States stood behind prosecuting the Japanese for war crimes including water boarding? The things done at Abuh Graib were an abomination to the fine men and women who have sacrificed so much for this country. Torture in any fashion is an assault on our freedom just as sure as 911 was an assault on our soil.

This country is a fine conglomeration of many people, from many places, believing (or not), in many dieties. It is an abomination to say anything against any one group for their religious afiliation. Jim Jones and his koolaid is no more representative of Christians than are the idiots who captured and flew those aircraft that September morning representative of Muslim citizens of this country.

As far as anyone on the radio offering harsh criticism of the president? Have you listened to Rush Limbaugh recently? Sorry, I have never heard anyone on the radio offering anything but praise for the president. Maybe our area only offers up right wing programs, but fortunately I can think for myself and plan to continue to do that. As for copy and paste?--- no excuse unless it wasn't read before hand. Still no excuse.

And you need to note who did write it.  "Author Unknown."  Why should we believe anything that is written by someone that won't sign their name to it?   The only thing that I will believe about this article is the facts about WWII.  I lived it.  I know how it was.  And America today is nothing like it.

Opinions are like buttholes*.  Some are ugly and smell, but we all have one. I think mine is cute and that's why i've been married to him for almost 14 years.....

*the politically correct word for "sensitive" ears....

And Wilma, if I knew who wrote it I would say so but I don't. Just an email from a friend of mine....I felt the comparisons about today's America vs. WWII's America were interesting...I didn't mean to cause such a "STINK"!  ;D
