'Wet & Wild' John McCain courts the biker vote
August 4, 2008 - 6:47am.
Presumptive GOP Presidential nominee John McCain's "do anything for a vote" strategy takes him today to the anything-goes town of Sturgis, South Dakota, where the candidate will court the biker vote amid naked beauty pageants, nude mud wrestling events, public nudity and drunken fights.

McCain will speak at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, a gathering of 400,000 or more motorcycle riders, hangers on and party girls. McCain's speech is sandwiched in between the "Ringing Wet & Wild" women's mud wrestling event and the Miss Buffalo Chip contest.

Bikers, many of them vets, might seem like a natural audience for former Vietnam Prisoner of War McCain but a candidate who also tries to cater to the self-righteous right-wing of the Republican Party may be courting disaster by mixing politics with naked women, drunken brawls and public debauchery.

It's that kind of political year.

I've got some friends who are in Sturgis right now..They are having a ball.

I have always wanted to go.. When Mark and I were doing lots of motercycling , we had a chance to go with a group of about 20 other bikers who were friends of ours from Sedan and Wichita and Colorado... but at that time a week away from the kids and work was too hard to fit into the other life schedules..
But it would have been an experience I am sure..  ;)

I know lots of people, couples that have gone to the sturgis rally. There is something there for everyone and all of it is not what some of you self-Righteous  have described. The bulk of these people are Veterans that have fought for this country and the right for everyone to do as they see fit within the guidelines allowed, and a lot of these people are good christians that like to Motorcycle and they don't all take in the so called undesirable show, to stereo everyone there is just a cheap shot.. I can see why the self righteous Democrats would put it down as I am sure if Obama had offered to speak at it he would have been runout on a rail. If I go to Las Vegas does that mean I am going for all of the low level entertainment, lots of well meaning Christians go to Las Vegas, where you go and what is happening there does not make you something undesirable.
