Cash H. McDonald was born near Fredonia, Kansas on February 5, 1883 and passed away at the Pauline Lawrence home in Sedan, Kansas on September 30, 1964 at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 25 days.  He was one of nine children born to Sam and Martha McDonald.  His parents moved to Busby when he was a boy, where he attended the Busby school with many friends and schoolmates in that community.
In 1907 he was united in marriage to Jessie Sprague.  They lived on a farm near Morehead, Kansas for five years.  While there they adopted a daughter, Doris, a short time after her birth and her mother's death.  They loved her dearly as if their own.  She was their only child.
Later, Mr. McDonald owned a farm near Fall River, where they lived 25 years.  From there they moved to a farm at Busby, his dad's home place.
Mr. McDonald had poor health the last half of his life and suffered a great deal.  The last few years he had been cared for at Capp's Nursing Home at Sedan, Kansas, and recently at the Lawrence home.  He was a hard working farmer who loved to till the soil and watch things grow.  He was a devoted father to his daughter, Doris.  His wife's and daugher's welfare were always uppermost in his mind.  He was always willing to help one in need, whether it be a friend or stranger.
Preceding him in death were his mother and father, Sam and Martha McDonald; four brothers, Chester, Elmer, Fred and Theodore; and a brother-in-law, Bert Grubbs.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie; his daughter, Doris; three sisters, Eva Grubbs, Pittsburg, Kansas; Cora Davis, Neodesha, Kansas; Alma Keesling, Neodesha, Kansas; one brother, Don, of Elk Falls, Kansas; two brother-in-laws, Sam Davis and Carl Keesling; one son-in-law, Jim Barnaby; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral srevices were held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Spurrier-Watt Chapel, Howard, with Loren VanSickle of Grenola, Kansas officiating.  Music was furnished by Mrs. Kenneth Calvert, accompanied by Mrs. Curtis Morgan.  Casket bearers were John Bowser, Bert Speer, Glen Barnaby, Ross Jontra, Kelsey Cody and Bob Thomas.  Honorary bearers were Lawrence Moore, Ermine Gilbert, Lloyd Bell and Clarence Patterson.  Graveside services and burial were in the Longton Cemetery; Longton, Kansas.
