I haven't really had the time to post this, but I desperately need your prayers.

My step-father, Carl Kitchens, has been diagnosed with cancer. He has had a terrible cough for some time now. He was admitted to Eureka hospital last week, where he had a stroke. It has impaired his speech somewhat. They then found a mass in his lungs and transported him to St. Francis in Wichita. THEY found the cancer has gone to his liver, lymphnodes, and adrenaline gland - which will slowly spread to the nervous system. He is terminally ill. And we ask for your prayers to keep him with us as long as possible.

He is still in Wichita, but mom is looking for him to come home possibly at the end of this week. Hospice will be taking care of him at their home in Howard. My mother, Adrian (Wilnerd) Kitchens, and grandmother, Barbara Kitchens are staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Wichita.

Please keep our family in your hearts as well as your prayers.

Thank you.

I am sorry to hear this.  Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers through this journey.  May you all find strength through your faith and family unity.  Blessings to all.

Devyn, daughter Kelly spoke with your mother, I think Thurs. nite, and Fri. I visited for a short time with your grandfather Wilnerd.  I am so very very sorry that your family will have to go through this.  Just keep your faith in God and let your love for each other take you though one day at a time.  Treasure each moment you have together.  Special prayers are going up for your strength and peace and knowing that you are not facing this alone.
MY GOAL IS TO LIVE FOREVER. SO FAR, SO GOOD !

Thank you so much! I'm so lucky to have my forum friends. You all are truly a blessing. I cried reading each of your posts and I am thankful for each of you!

As some of you may know, my father "dumped" my sisters and I off when I was in my first year of high school and the twins in junior high. Never paid a dime of child support ot did anything to help. Carl took us in, and never said a negative thing about it. He took care of us (mom worked too). We love him with all our hearts.

I spoke to mom earlier. The doctors have told her now that if he is to go on chemo, he will have maybe one year with us. If he chooses not to do chemo, he could have 3 months. He will not do chemo, he is coming home and we will live each moment to the fullest.

Friends, you really do not know what you have until someone is threatening to take it from you. I always thought, death...cancer...that will never happen to anyone I know. And in the blink of an eye, it is happening. And to someone I love with all of my heart.

Thank you thank you thank you for your sympathy, encouraging words, and friendship.

Frank & I will also lift you in prayer.  We have lost several family members and a good friend as well the past 2 months.  We certainly can understand what you and your family are going through.
