HOWARD - Harrod, E. Faye (McDonald), 91, homemaker, died on Monday, June 2, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard.

Edith Faye Harrod, 91, died June 2, 2008 at Howard Twilight Manor, Howard, Kansas.

She was born on March 24, 1917 on a farm southeast of Howard in Elk County to Theodore and Mattie (Burtch) McDonald.  She was the fourth child and only girl in a family of five children.  When she was six years old, she began her education at High Hill Elementary School District 147 near the McDonald farm.  She graduated from Howard High School in 1936.

On February 28, 1937, she married Glenn Richard Harrod at Howard, Kansas.  A homemaker, she later in life drove a shool bus for the Union Center School.  She also worked at Toot's Drive-In for several years.  After her husband's death on December 18, 1970, she moved to Howard where she made her home until entering Howard Twilight Manor. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Richard Harrod, who died at birth on October 6, 1943. 

She is survived by her son, Michael Harrod of Howard, Kansas; her brother, Kenneth McDonald of Topeka, Kansas; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Pastor Robin Haines will officiate.  Burial will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials have been established with Howard Twilight Manor and the Howard Senior Center.  Contributions may be left with the funeral home.
