Some information and guidelines concerning recycling.
First, we need volunteers!  Especially in Elk Falls,
Grenola, Longton, and Moline.  Wouldn't hurt to have a
few in Howard either.  Whilst on that subject, the
recycle trailer is in Longton about 8 A.M. the FIRST
SATURDAY of every month, thence it moves to Elk Falls
at about 1015 A.M. until Noon. The SECOND Friday and
Saturday you'll see it in Howard from 9 A.M. until 11
A.M.  On the THIRD SATURDAY it goes to Grenola at about
8 A.M. until 10, thence on to Moline until about Noon.
So much for guidelines, now for the information or more
properly education;  If you look at the bottom of your
plastic containers, you'll see a triangle with a number
in it and some letters underneath [use your best glasses]
sometimes it's hard to read, if there's any other number
than a 1 [one] or 2 [two] we cannot take it! The number
1 will have the letters PETE underneath, the number 2
will have HDPE underneath. OK to make it easier, milk
jugs and water jugs will be 2-HDPE, soda [pop] bottles
will be 1-PETE, laundry detergent, shampoo, pill bottles,
coffee cans, ice-cream buckets, SOME yogurt containers,
butter tubs, will also have 2-HDPE on them but should be
separated from milk and water jugs as they go in a different
bin on the trailer, thank you.
We also accept newspaper, magazines, shredded paper as well
as junk mail, catalogues and tin cans, glass [please no
window glass or tempered glass like drinking glasses or
coffee carraffes, old lamps nor light-bulbs]. We also
take CORRUGATED cardboard, not cereal, cracker, or similar
cardboard boxes.
And please, please NO TRASH!  We are NOT a trash collector!
Comments and/or questions? Call 620-374-4074 Nearly any
time. Thank you Knut.

When the recycling trailer is in your town, we also will
accept batteries; AAA,AA,C,D, hearing aid, caculator,
lantern, car/truck, heavy equipment, just about any type
of battery you need to dispose of, yes, telephone also.
Thank you!  Knut. [Yes, that is my name!]

Knut, and notice that I did not address you as K-nut this time, I have sheets of printed computer generated items that I have no use for now.  Are they recyclable?

Also, my shred container is used to catch all the envelopes and inserts from my mail besides the shred.  Would I have to separate them or can the whole kaboodle go together?

Also, the containers have numbers on them but their lids do not.  Are the unnumbered lids recyclable as well?

:'( I just dank a "bottle" of juice and looked on the bottom to see if it was a "1" or a "2" cause it looks just like a milk carton.  It said "7" and under it "other".  Guess it goes in the trash

It looks like Newark is considering a new recycling program that I will have to learn to do. They will stop trash collection 2 days a week and go with one trash day and one recycle day. We have the big bins on wheels now, which I like better than I thought I would, but it's too big to fit in the garage. Now there will be a second one for co-mingled recyclables. One more big thing to have to make room for in the flower bed by the side of my garage.  We put some bricks down for the first one, but I will have to move a rose and some plants to make room for another one.  I won't have to take things to the igloos any more, but I'll miss not having that other trash day. We can't put out yard waste any longer either. I have a big compost pile already but I'm not sure what to do with diseased plants and things like poison ivy that I shouldn't compost. We can't burn either. This will be an interesting learning experience. Knut, I may have some questions!!!!

Help!  I'm confused!   ??? (No need for comments from the peanut section, thanks.)
I put on my calendar for Friday, May 9 to haul my recycling into Howard.  Thus it says from Knut's information below; 2nd Friday/Saturday.
BUT, I was on my way to volleyball this last Saturday, and lo and behold, the recycle trailer was parked on Washington.  (That being the 4th Saturday, according to my calendar.)
I did notice that Kunt mentioned nothing about 4th week recycling efforts, so I thought it was a week of rest?  Or did he just take a rest from his post?  Anyone??

Don't worry - Knut confuses a lot of people! ;D   ;D   ;D

I didn't pay attention to what Knut wrote because I already knew the schedule.

The recylcing trailer is in Howard on the 2nd and 4th full weekend of each month.
