The Pentagon is getting ready to award exploratory contracts with Boeing and Lockheed Martin to develop an unmanned reconnaissance airplane that has a 500-foot wingspan, flies at 90,000 feet, and stays up on the air for five years. It is called the Vulture and is to be solar powered and have equipment to stay in constant contact with a ground station.
