Artist Alley, what a fun name.

Did you know there is a "bubblegum alley" in San Luis Obismo, CA?  So named because the brick wall leading from the sidewalk is plastered with bubble gum, including mine.

That's a great one too Larry. By the way, this is the oddest forum. All the fussing back and forth about who is patriotic and what "counts" and such and not a word about  D-Day....Are we forgetting or what? I even put the flag out. Al's' father was in CBI and the invasion of the Philippines. I would have found or done a thread but I was afraid I'd be swatted for it by you know who.

larryJ

While there may not be a separate thread labeled "D-Day", it was acknowledged in my wry jokes today.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MY BUDDY, R.A.M.B.O.

After eight long grueling weeks of studying and training, eight hours of supervised classroom work------------

TA DA ;D ;D ;D ;D

R.A.M.B.O has completed his etiquette class and passed with flying colors.  He was the top dog in a class of eight dogs.  He performed all those things he was taught such as sit, lay down, shake, stay and down.  He was the winner of the puppy push up contest (Sit, down, sit, down, sit, down) completing 11 rotations before receiving a treat for good performance.  A certificate has been awarded along with a bag of treats and a new chew toy.

Larryj (and R.A.M.B.O.) thanks you for your good wishes.

I was channel surfing earlier and happened onto HBOs' series Treme. It features NO after Katrina; the music is awesome, a great mixture of Blues, Jazz, and Zydeco. I loved that music!

Diane, perhaps the seemingly disinterest in D-Day is because very few of us remember it.  At that time our news source was a 15 minute radio newscast, the daily paper and the newsreel at the movies.  I was perhaps 15 years old and more interested in my own age group.  I do remember the day the war ended.  Our little town didn't have much of a way to announce news and usually when the fire bell rang it was because there was a fire.  A sure way to get an audience.  This particular day, I heard the fire bell, but not being of any use in fighting a fire, I stayed home.  My brother, however, was 18 and he responded only to come back and tell us that the war was over.  This was the war in Europe.

I think you are right. One fellow about my age, on another local forum I'm involved with, went on a tirade yesterday because very few of the forum  members mentioned D-Day. I think there are only a few of us who are old enough to remember Viet Nam. , let alone WWII . Like it or not time passes and the relevance of such things dwindle. I was just surprised because we've got a couple on here who eat, sleep and drink camouflage and I thought for sure they would say something. It doesn't matter, just a curiosity.
