In reference to the Elk County history book story, "Kansas Town Terrorized by Last of Wild Buffaloes," by Lily B. Rozar.

Found this on the KSHS web site.

Rozar, Lily B. "44-Star Flag Their Banner: Flag-Raising Association in Fairview District Near Howard Is 62 Years Old." Independence Daily Reporter. Sept. 8, 1957.

Over the years, I have seen some other articles in old Independence Daily Reporter files written by her but don't think she was a gumshoe reporter.
"If one of the many corrupt...county-seat contests must be taken by way of illustration, the choice of Howard County, Kansas, is ideal." Dr. Everett Dick, The Sod-House Frontier, 1854-1890.
"One of the most expensive county-seat wars in terms of time and money lost..." Dr. Homer E Socolofsky, KSU
