Tonight, at 9:00 our time, TCM is showing "Bad Company" the movie that was partially filmed in Severy in 1972.  My father-in-law, along with a lot of other Severy citizens were extras in the movie.  My father-in-law was outfitted as an elderly gentleman with the coat and hat of the style of the day.  On the last day of filming, he was so tired he just went home without turning in his costume.  I'm not sure what happened to the hat but my mother-in-law still had it for several years after the filming.  I am going to be disappointed if it turns out to not be what they have listed.

;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8)Back when this movie was filmed in Severy, I was an extra. I rode a horse across the intersection from East to west, you have to look fast to see me, as I'm only in it for a split second at the very start. Henry

Waldo Gray was in this film too. In fact, I think that there was lots of extras in that movie from around here.

I think I watched this movie one time to try and catch a glimpse of my grandpa.  I believe that he was shown for just a split second.  Henry, that's cool that you were in the movie, too.  I think I'll have to watch it again sometime to see how many people I recognize.

good luck recognizing anyone.  I had two daughters in it and if I hadn't known how they were dressed, I wouldn't have known it was them.  The people I did recognize was because I knew where they were and how they were dressed.  I have quite a little picture album of the movie.  Lewis and his Dad traveled with them when they left Severy.  Lewis as a carpenter and Floyd hauled lumber, etc.

I have the Kansas issue that feature "Bad Company" being film in Severy.  I would have to look for it but I know I have it because it has a photo of my grandfather getting lunch.

I watched a piece of Bad Company, but Comanche Moon was on at the same time. I should have recorded it. It's nice so many of you got to be extras. It's fun to watch a film being made isn't it?  But boring too, because everything takes so long. Since they don't shoot the scenes in sequence, I don't know how the actors keep it all straight. Because of old New Castle and beautiful St. Andrews School in Middletown, a number of  films have been made near here. Robin Williams was here when they made Dead Poets Society. He went to a movie at Christiana Mall and had everybody in stitches while they were waiting for the movie to start .

Diane, did you enjoy Comanche Moon?  We started to watch it, but just couldn't get into it.  Other people I talked with said they couldn't get in to it either.  I guess Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall spoiled us with their acting in Lonesome Dove.  We were interested in it, as Larry McMurtry is from Archer, Texas and an alum of University of North Texas where our daughter graduated from.  Tommy Lee Jones went to High School in Midland (Robert E. Lee High School) for awhile and often came back there.  He was a polo player and often came back for the polo games.  He has a ranch at San Saba, Texas.  He was usually dress in blue denim overalls when you saw him.

gals, I tried to watch Commanche Moon, but I found it hard to follow.  Finally just gave up and it may be because of the original Lonesome Dove.  I have the VCR series and love it.  I understood this was to be the last saga of Lonesome Dove.  Guess I had a different Lonesome Dove in mind than the producers of Commanche Moon.  :-\

It's funny, we did the same thing regarding watching "Commanche Moon."  We watched it for a little while, and both of us decided it just wasn't going to be what we wanted to watch.  We'd just watched the original "Lonesome Dove" series a week ago, on DVD's, and, I guess we were expecting somewhat of a story along the same lines, but it just wasn't happening.  I wish they were making more good old westerns, and we thought that was what "Commanche Moon" was going to be.
