Do you know where Playboy magazine got its name?

It did not come from Hugh Hefner's supposed lifestyle but came from the automobile of the same name.

Claimed gasoline mileage by the New York based manufacturer was 35 mpg.

Cost was $995 plus freight.

The Playboy Automobile Company ceased operation in 1951.


Anyone remember the Crosley automobile, which came from the radio manufacturer?

It was a two-cylinder little job initially offered for $350 and weighed less than 1,000 pounds.

The old Crosley Field of the Cincinnati Reds received its name from the manufacturer, who happened to own the team.

The automobile company went out of business in 1952 but one can still purchase Crosley appliances.
