William Arthur Arndt, 76, of Neosho, Missouri, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at his home after declining health.

He was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Howard, Kansas to Arthur William and Lena L. (Lewis) Arndt.

Mr. Arndt, a member of the Howard class of 1950, was a Corporal in the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry, serving in Korea.  He worked for the Gas Service Company, which merged into Kansas Power & Light Company as an internal auditor, retiring in 1986.

Following his retirement he moved to the Noel/Pineville, Missouri area in 1986 from Liberty, Missouri, and in 1996 he moved to Neosho.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He was a member of the Carter-Rader American Legion Post #149 of Howard; a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Life member of the Disabled American Veterans.  He was also a member of the Neosho United  Methodist Church.

He married Deanna K. Henson, Aug. 30, 1975 in Bernice, Oklahoma; she survives at their home.

Other survivors include two children, Milton D. Arndt and Sharla K. Meyer, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  

He was preceded in death by one son, William A. Arndt Jr.; three brothers, Carl, Kenneth and Deuane Arndt; two sisters, Hilma Arndt and D. Maxine Frisbie.

Cremation has taken place. A a memorial service with military honors will be Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 11 a.m., at the Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas. Rev. Gene Cole will officiate.

Memorial contgributions are suggested to Carter-Rader American Legion Post #149 or the Neosho United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66 Neosho, MO 64850.  Memorials can be mailed to Countryside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, KS 66736.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Grace lawn Cemetery at Howard, with the REv. Gene Cole officiating.  Zimmerman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
