Faustine Irene Tredway departed this earthly world at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007.  She was 86  years of age.

Irene was born at Beaumont, June 7, 1921.  She was the first child from the union of Mildred Madeline Lanier and George Earl Parsons.

As a child Irene and her family lived in the Beaumont, Atlanta, Latham, and Prairie View Communities.

On June 15, 1941 she married Carroll Gilbert Tredway and to this union three children were born: Carol Jean, Linda Gayle, and Monty Ray.

Mrs. Tredway was a homemaker.  Along with her husband they owned and operated the Circle T Ranch in Longton for forty years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Longton, American Baptist Women, and the Elk County Cattlewomen.

Surviving to honor her memory are two daughters; Carol Jean Kastler and her husband Clyde of Coffeyville, and Linda Gayle Adams and her husband Richard of Elk Falls, one daughter-in-law Diana Tredway Stroble and husband Charlie of Longton, one son-in-law Bill Alcorn and his wife Rohoni of Ramona, Kan., one sister Helen Edwards and her husband Joe of Fort Dodge, Kan., three granddaughters; Kimy Lou Tredway Nash and her husband Jared of Wamego, Kan., Kristy Ann Tredway of Richland, Wash., and Dana Alcorn of Newton, Kan., four grandsons; Paul Eugene Alcorn of Lebo, Kan., Michael Brady Adams of Manhattan, Kan., Morgan Bailey Adams, Elk Falls and Travis John Stroble of Manhattan, Kan., eight great grandchildren; Shelly Ilene, Christina, Drake, Shelby, Kylie, Caleb and Ida Alcorn and her most recent great grandson Carter Lane Nash, born on Oct. 19, 2006 to Jared and Kimy Nash.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll, one son Monty Ray, her brother James Harold Parsons, and her parents George Earl and Mildred Madeline Parsons.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at the Elk Valley High School Gymnasium in Longton.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the school.  Interment will be at the Longton Cemetery.

Contributions are suggested to either the Elk County Free Fair Association or the Longton Cemetery Association and may be left in care of Countryside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, KS.
