I lived n Mulvane for about five years back in the 70s. It was a very nice bedroom community.

Mulvane, like Boston, Ks, is unique in that the county line goes down the middle of main street.

At one time, the sales tax was different on the other side of Main Street but now Sumner and Sedgwick counties supposedly have the same sales tax.

I understand Sumner County voters approved a gambling initiative and a prime site being considered for casinos is at the Mulvane entrance to the Kansas Turnpike.
"If one of the many corrupt...county-seat contests must be taken by way of illustration, the choice of Howard County, Kansas, is ideal." Dr. Everett Dick, The Sod-House Frontier, 1854-1890.
"One of the most expensive county-seat wars in terms of time and money lost..." Dr. Homer E Socolofsky, KSU

Yes, more than one site around Mulvane is being considered as is at least one off the turnpike at Wellington.  I think the Sumner County Commissioners will make the decision.  Former Wichita Mayor Bob Knight has an interest in the ones being considered at Mulvane.  Sedgwick County voters turned down a casino and since one had been approved for the area, it fell to Sumner County.
