TWO THOUSAND ONE, NINE ELEVEN (2001-911)]

Is it possible that 9/11 is already six years ago?

Is it also possible that many people's recollection of that event has already faded? I think the words that follow should help to remind us all that we were attacked by people dedicated to destroying us and our way of life.

WHOEVER WROTE THIS SHOULD STEP FORWARD AND  CLAIM IT!
THE WORDS ARE POWERFUL:

TWO THOUSAND ONE,  NINE ELEVEN (2001-911)

Two thousand  one, nine eleven
Three thousand plus arrive in heaven
As they  pass through the gate,
Thousands more appear in wait
A bearded  man with stovepipe hat
Steps forward saying, 'Lets sit, lets  chat'

They settle down in seats of clouds
A man  named Martin shouts out proud
'I have a dream!' and once he  did
The Newcomer said, 'Your dream still lives.'

Groups  of soldiers in blue and gray
Others in khaki, and green then  say
'We're from Bull Run, Yorktown, the Maine'
The Newcomer  said, 'You died not in vain.'

>From a man on sticks one  could hear
'The only thing we have to fear.
The Newcomer said,  'We know the rest,
Trust us sir, we've passed that  test.'

'Courage doesn't hide in caves
You can't  bury freedom, in a grave,'
The Newcomers had heard this voice  before
A distinct Yankees twang from Hyannisport  shores

A silence fell within the mist
Somehow the  Newcomer knew that this
Meant time had come for her to  say
What was in the hearts of the five thousand plus that  day

'Back on Earth, we wrote reports,
Watched our  children play in sports
Worked our gardens, sang our  songs
Went to church and clipped coupons
We smiled, we  laughed, we cried, we fought
Unlike you, great we're  not'

The tall man in the stovepipe hat
Stood and  said, 'Don't talk like that!
Look at your country, look and  see
You died for freedom, just like me'

Then, before  them all appeared a scene
Of rubbled streets and twisted  beams
Death, destruction, smoke and dust
And people working  just 'cause they must

Hauling ash, lifting  stones,
Knee deep in hell, but not alone
'Look! Blackman,  Whiteman, Brownman, Yellowman
Side by side helping their fellow  man!'

So said Martin, as he watched the  scene
'Even from nightmares, can be born a dream.'

Down below three  firemen raised
The colors high into ashen haze
The soldiers  above had seen it before
On Iwo Jima back in '45

The man on sticks studied  everything closely
Then shared his perceptions on what he saw  mostly
'I see pain, I see tears,
I see sorrow -- but I don't  see fear.'

'You left behind husbands and  wives
Daughters and sons and so many lives
Are suffering now  because of this wrong
But look very closely. You're not really  gone.

All of those people, even those who've never met  you
All of their lives, they'll never forget you
Don't you see  what has happened?
Don't you see what you've done?
You've  brought them together, together as one.

With that the man in  the stovepipe hat said
'Take my hand,' and from there he  led
Three thousand plus heroes, Newcomers to heaven
On this  day, two thousand one, nine eleven

September 11, 2007, will soon be  approaching. On this day, please wear
red, white and blue to work or  school to show your support for those who
lost their lives on 9~11~01 and to  honor the heroes who worked to save
them and the families left behind. At  noon your time on September 11,
2007, no matter where you are or what you are  doing, stop, put your hand
on your heart, and say the Pledge of Allegiance  out loud or to yourself
and say a prayer for our nation.

In  addition, for those of us who drive to work, please drive with your
headlights  on to also give honor and remembrance to those who perished on
September  11th.

If all of us do this together in every time zone round  the world, we will
have a powerful chain of thoughts surrounding us.  Please keep this going
to your friends and family.

By September 11,  2007 hopefully enough people will have read this and will
join together in  unity.

Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

This week is the annual Delaware fire service conference.  Everything will come to an abrupt halt in Dover at noon today.  We will all remember.  It's never very far away from us anyway.  We all know exactly what class we were in at the Sheraton, when every body's pagers went off, 9/11/01.  We had no idea what all was going to happen and quietly people began being called out.  The EMTs associated with Dover Air Force were called back to the base, the National Guard went to high alert, the medical people from the local hospitals were put on alert.  We had police officer/paramedics that were alerted.  The airports were immediately closed and several of our national speakers couldn't go home.  I have friends that work in Manhattan, and several who started with our fire company and went on to be FDNY.  None of them were hurt (so far.) Thank you, Judy for sharing that poem.

If I may, I'd like to share a story of the first anniversary of this horrible, awful day.

I don't remember why I had that day off, but I remember sitting in my sun drenched living room with my 3 year old son playing between my feet on the carpet. My husband was doing some work on his computer in the breakfast nook. I left my son, and went over to my husband. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. He turned around in his chair and asked, "what's up, Baby?" I looked him in the eye and said, "Today is going to be remembered as such a horrible day in history. Let's make something beautiful out of it." He looked at me with a funny grin on his face and our daughter was born about 9 months later.

Check her weight on the scale...

Teresa

Well you little devil you!  :)

I took my headlights off of automatic so they would be on as I drove around town doing errands and going to lunch.  The problem was, that I forgot to turn them off, so when I left the office at 6:30 tonight my battery was dead.
Of course my jumper cables were in the carport, and being a city, no one else around had any, so I paid a tow service $44.00 to get up and going.  Eventually, I'll get the money back.  My heart was in the right place though.
If I were living in Elk Co, I bet someone would have had a jump start in about two minutes.

Yep,

Your jumper cables would have been under the seat and

the guy you were parked next to

would hook them up for you.
Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

Teresa

Or the "gal" would have hooked them up for you ..  ;)

Most of us country chicks are pretty handy with things like that.  :)
