Usually it takes me anywhere from 40-50 mins to drive home after work.  When Tropical Storm Erin hit, it took me about 60-70 mins to get home.  Last night there was a thunderstorm in Southwest Houston / Sugarland,  IT TOOK ME 3 HOURS TO GET HOME!!!  I work about 20 miles from home.  It took me 1 hr to go 19 miles and 2 hrs to go 1 mile.  With a puppy that had to use the facilities and bird who kept trying to bite the dog.  GRRRRRR

Do you have to use Hwy 59 or can you take the new tollway?

Yet one more reason to live in Howard...   8) ;D  Actually, I'm sorry you had a crummy drive, we've all been through that and it is very frustrating, especially with folks or pets depending on you.  Still, the only time it would take 2 hours to 20 miles here is if you kept finding people to stop & talk to along the way ~ and you could always run home & let the dog out inbetween visits.

Now explain to me about the bird and the dog. There has got to be a story there. You take your pets to work? You have an attack parrot? What? :D

I live at beltway 8 and 59 S.  I can take the beltway, but I am trying to cut on cost right now.  I cant use the westpark tollway because I got rid of my ez tag (besides it is usually backed up anyway).  59 to the belt is the quickest way home

yes, yes,  and yes

I have a 8 month old black mouth curr mix, a 9 year old peach faced love bird, a 4 month old calico cat, and a fish tank.  The dog goes to work with me everyday and the bird goes on occasion.  For the past three days our ac has been out and it gets too hot in our townhouse for the bird during the day, so she goes to work with me also.

The bird is in a cage in the front seat and the dog is in the back (usually sleeping).  Well we were in the car so long the dog got bored and started to sniff the birds cage.  Well the bird really does not like this so she comes over and bites the dog on the nose.  Now the dog really wants the bird, so she tries to crawl on the cage in which she gets bit again. And yes there is blood on the cage.

A little about love birds....they are the smallest bird in the parrot family.  They are the most aggressive in the parrot family, especially females, and especially when the female has laid eggs

We got into a traffic snarl at Beltway 8 and 59 on our way to Galveston!  I can sympathize with what you are dealing with.  Our son and his wife lived in Sugar Land when they moved to Houston and it would sometimes take him a couple of hours to get home.  I thought with the tollway things would be better.  They live in Briar Forest now and takes the Beltway to 59 tollway, but east.  He works down around Post Oak, so he sometimes takes Memorial down.  Usually after school starts, he takes the tollway so he doesn't have to deal with school zones.
