Thelma Elaine Osborn, age 101, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Twilight Manor in Howard.

Thelma was born Jan. 17, 1906 to Rollen Ray and Lettie (Morrill) Fooshee in Winfield.  They later moved to a farm northwest of Howard.  She attended Star Rural Grade School, graduated from howard high School, then attended Emporia College for one summer receiving her teaching degree.  She taught at Valley Center grade school northwest of Howard.

On April 29, 1926 Thelma married Irvin Osborn in Severy.  They lived on a farm northwest of Howard until they retired n 1973, and moved into Howard after selling the farm.  They were married for 62 years until his death.

Thelma was a homemaker after their marriage and worked hard assisting her husband, planting, harvesting, and canning their produce.  She loved to crochet, sew clothes for her children and make quilts and lap robes for the nursing home in Howard.  In 1998, she chose to move into Twilight Manor, where her daughter worked.

She is survived by her children:  Maxine Elliot, Grand Junction, Colo.; Bernita Nickel, Winfield; Regina Shutlz, Springfield, Mo.; Bud Osborn, Duncanville, Texas; Ronnie Osborn, Emporia; Irvina harrod, Howard; one sister Lowel (Penny) Cutely, Fresno, Calif.; 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Helen Tim, grandson Jerry Elliot, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 with visitation from 10-noon, prior to the service, at the Howard United Methodist Church with Pastor Robin Haines officiating.  

Contributions are suggested to the Flint Hills Assembly of God Church or Howard Twilgith manor and may be left in care of Countryside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, KS 66736.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard.

Thelma E. Osborn, 101, of Howard, died Tuesday at Twilight Manor, Howard.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service at the Howard United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robin Haines officiating.  Arrangement are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home.


Memorials are suggested to the Flint Hills Assembly of God Church of Howard Twililght Manor and may be left in care of Countryside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
