Allen Criger Dies in Hunting Accident 

     Allen Lee Criger, 38, rural Howard, was killed shortly before Sunday noon as he was preparing to go hunting at his late father's farm.
     Criger had gone to his father's house and was removing his 16 gauge double-barreled shotgun from his vehicle to begin hunting when it accidentally discharged, striking him in the face.
     Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Spurrier Funeral Home Chapel, Howard.  The Rev. Roy L. Brown, pastor of the Howard United Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Howard.
     Allen Lee Criger was born September 28, 1936 near Howard, Kansas, the son of Clad and Ethel (Friend) Criger.  He was a lifetime resident of the area and was graduated from Howard High School with the Class of 1955.
     He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau.
     Survivors include his widow, Virgie, of the home; four daughters, Charla and Doana of Everton, Mo., and Vicki and Kelly of the home; two stepsons, Danny and Shawn White of the home; one stepdaughter, Elaina White of the home; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Criger, Howard; and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Boyer, Moline, and Mrs. Norma Welch, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
