I found this in Opal Clark's copy of Elk County History.  The caption on back says: Oct 1978 Trip to New Orleans.  I am sure it is a group from Elk County.

I remember with great fondness a day trip that I took with a Group from Howard to Kansas City, but I don't remember who organized these trips.  Was it the County Extension Office? On my trip we toured Proctor and Gamble, the Nelson Museum, the Mall and then saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at an outdoor theater.

If anyone has more information, please fill us in.

This was probably a group from Elk County who took the Extension Office bus trip.  I remember my mother going to New Orleans with a group but don't know the year--I think they went to the World's Fair along with visiting other sites coming and going.  Chances are it was the same group.  Those trips are still being taken every year, and they provide such a wonderful opportunity for many to venture outside of Elk County, especially for senior citizens who don't have to worry about making reservations, handling luggage, etc.   The camaraderie and fellowship on the bus is quite enlightening, too. My husband, my sister, and I went a couple of years ago and had a great time visiting the Amish Country in Indiana.
