Franklin Harmon Tesh was born in Salem, N. C., March 3rd, 1830; died of pneumonia, at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 21st, 1900, aged 69 years, 10 months and 18 days, at the age of 21 he emigrated to Springfield, Mo., thence two years later to Illinois.  Here he was married to Miss Winaford Hubard, Dec. 25, 1856.  After 15 years residence in Ill. he removed with his family to Kansas, stopping a few months at Eureka. 
In February, 1871, Mr. Tesh settled upon a claim 6 miles west of Howard.  Beginning in a small way,  he was able by frugality, energy and good business management to prosper, and become one of Elk county's wealthy men.  He was converted in Union Center school house under the ministry of Rev. Laverty, joining the M. E. Church.  He was a very active and spirited member until the preaching place at Union Center was dropped.  He sent for the ??riter last week and desired to be transferred, with his wife, to the Howard church, renewing his covenant and receiving the vows of the church.  He seemed to be fully reconciled to death and passed away in peace and hope. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs J. W, Fanshier, and six grandchildren. Two children are buried at Forest Park Cemetery,  Oscar, aged 16 and Mary aged 19; and infant lies in Edwards county county Illinois; one son, Edwin, aged 38 was buried in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Howard, Kansas.
  The funeral services were held Tuesday, January 23rd, at the late home of the deceased, by Rev. J. W. Mackenzie, pastor of the Howard M. E. Church, interment was made in Forest Park Cemetery, Elk county, Kansas.  He was followed to his last resting place by a large concourse of neighbors and friends.
