Six National Honor Society members have been chosen at Howard high school.

John Crowell is valedictorian of the 1962 graduating class and has received a scholarship from Kansas University.  He received state recognition in basketball and has been active in music groups, held class and organization offices.  He attended science camp at Emporia State Teachers College last summer.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Olin Crowell of Howard.

Joyce Houser is salutatorian of the class and has received a scholarship from Kansas University.  She has been a member of music groups, FHA president, Kayette president, and has been active and held offices in the local and district MYF.  She was a representative to Girls State in 1961.  She is the niece of Miss Hazel Moore of Howard.

Mike Elliott was a representative to Boys State, Hi-Y president, member of vocal groups, member of play casts, and received honorable mention in the state as a fullback.  He plans to attend college.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Elliott of rural Howard.

May Kathryn Vinette was a representative to Girls State, cheer leader for two years, was a member of voal music groups and has been active in organizations and held office in the class.  She will attend Southwestern College, Winfield.  She is the daughter of Mrs. Helen Vinette, Howard.

Reece Land was president of the class this year and plans to attend Kansas State Univeristy at Manhattan as a pre-veterinary student.  He is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Archibald of rural Howard.

Shirley Hebb has been active in music groups, accompanist for Boys Glee and is active in the Baptist church and BYF.  She plans to attend college and major in biology.  She is the daughter of Mrs. Violet Hebb of Howard.

The 1961-62 school year will end May 26 at Howard.  --Reporter.
