What's this about Ta Ta's car company and when did she sneak off to India?  How come I don't know about it?

Sorry, didn't mean to throw you.  Tata is the big Indian auto company that just bought out Jaguar and Land Rover. They are working also on new itty bitty mini cars too. Thought it would be nice if our TaTa could get royalties or something.

Maybe she should look into that.  Might be able to sue them for stealing her name.

Today is Soap Box Day and I was thinking that we needed something to liven up the Forum a bit then I read a couple of Judy's posts and about laughed my head off.  If you haven't read them this morning, then take some time and do it.  I particularly like the one about polluting your mind.

Have you ever read something that you later wished that you hadn't read?  What you put into your mind cannot be deleted.  What you choose to watch on television cannot later be erased.  If  you wonder why the world has become so violent, how many shows are based on violence and do you watch them?  If you wonder why girls run around 99% naked,  how are the females on reality shows dressed?  If you wonder why our young people dress so crazy and inappropriately, how are the stars that we continually see on the news dressed?  And this is the way our kids are seeing them on MTV and whatever else they watch.

What can we do about it?  Me?  I can't do anything about what other people choose to put into their minds but I can refuse to further pollute my mind.  Maybe that is why I watch basketball over regular shows.  I am just thankful that the players wear tights under their cullottes.  If you ever saw one fall while the camera is on his legs, you would know why.

Sorry, Wilma, I don't think that watching basketball over regular TV is less pollution.  Those BB and other sports stars are just as spoiled and inappropriate as the rest of the TV stars.  Professional sports, mostly, but college is getting just as bad, too!  Why do you think that kids think it's OK to yell at the refs and throw a fit on the court and pout when they're doing bad?  Not to mention PARENTS!
But, I can't think of a better TV show alternative, either.  Guess we'll just have to figure out how to get our name on the guest list for the Cookson card parties.  I remember when card and game parties used to be the "in" thing to do, especially in the country to get neighbors together (of course, I had to already be in bed by that time, so I just remember it "sounded" like fun).

I agree with my mother (Wilma) that I will not pollute my mind.  I watched programs that educate me and make my laugh.  Such as the Mythbusters on Discovery Channel,  Cities of the Underworld on History channel, or the Animal Channel.  Sherlock Holmes stated to Dr. Watson, "That a man's mind is like an attic."  I don't remember that rest of the statement but the jest is "if you watch junk, your mind will cram with junk; but if you watch shows that educate, your mind will be fill knowledge."  It is up to the public that will sent a message that young actresses need to dress appropriatly in public and the shows need to stop glorify violents.  Bring back games show on prime time.

Well said, archeobabe.  The only game show I could do without is the lie detector one.  That doesn't seem quite right to me; may as well call it the Jerry Springer Game Show.
