L Hendricks

Diane - 86 was the magical yr from HS... now my age is known.  Have to watch the ole spelling - there are some real spelling hounds on this forum.  Was Ted your father or uncle?

Diane Amberg

Ted was my uncle and Lyle was my father. Daddy and Mom moved here in 1941. He was hired as a rubber chemist by Hercules Powder Co. in Del. to develop synthetic rubber for the war effort. He had some very early patents on synthetic rubber for tires, etc. They had expected to be transferred back to Sunflower after the war, so we would have been Kansas kids, but it never happened. They wanted him here and made it financially worthwhile to stay.

Liz Hendricks. Now that names familiar. Don't I know you from somewhere?

She may have meant ornery.

EUREKA, I have it!!! :D :D :D

no...onry is perfect and the best description. :)

onry means generally grumpy disposition,
often for no particular reason, or with cause, pissed off and angry, with no intention to act on it other than to be unpleasant

1) He was an onry (hornery) ol' man

2) He was in an onry (hornery) mood
