Kid Band From Our Neighboring City Here Saturday

Last Saturday afternoon, without warning, eight or ten autos from Moline whizzed into Howard and spilled out the Moline Kid Band, a good-looking bunch of youngsters, most of them of knee-breeches size, who quietly lined up and tooted forth some snappy and inspiring two-steps, a short overture, a waltz, and some ragtimes, all in excellent good time and tune, under the efficient leadership of Phillip Schul.  Their playing elicited enthusiastic applause from the crowds on our streets.  Mr. Schul tells us the boys have been playing about little over a year, but they put out music which would be a credit to a much older organization.  The band is composed of the best young boys of Moline, and will be heard of farther away from home than Howard in the not far distant future.  The following are the members of the Moline Kid Band:

Clarinets-- Glen Sawyer, Edwin Beu.
Cornets- Geo. Johns, Carl Freed, Joe Turner, Guy Sackett, Ellis White, Floyd Weese.
Altos-Frank Johns, Nile Ames, Larkin Shacklelford
Trombones-Ollo Smith, Walter Smith, Geo. Spease
Baritone--Allen Bonjour
Basses--Alton Trauber, Vernon Sherwin
Drums- Frank Smith, Ralph Fouts

The object of their visit to Howard was to advertise the big banquet of the Elk County democracy, which takes place at Moline the 6th of June. Mesrrs. O. S. Myres, J. N. Force, I. W. Beal, Dr. Ed Marrs, and many other prominent democrats of Moline, were here boosting for the banquet.  They extended a polite and hearty invitation to the Republican Howard Courant man and His Woman to attend--and we expect to be there.
