Elsie Gertrude Crismas was born near Howard, Kansas, December 26, 1880,  the daughter of James and Melissa Crismas.  She died April 15 at the home of her daughter, Lucille Baumgartel, in Howard.

She was married to Lu Baumgartel, March 14, 1900.  To this union were born seven children, four girls and three boys.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lu, who died January 30, 1948, and one son and one daughter.

She is survived by two sons; Loyal of Fall River and Dale of Norwich, Kansas; three daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Pickett and Miss Lucille Baumgartel, both of Howard, and Mrs Wauneta Drake of Rock, Kansas; one brother, Clarence Crismas of Howard; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Isaac of Medford, Oklahoma; ten gradnchildren; 13 great-greatchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Services were held in the chapel of the Spurrier Funeral Home, April 17 at 2:00 p.m.  The Rev. Charles Kasinger of the Christian Church, Howard, officiated.

Music was presented by Mrs. Curtis Morgan, accompanied by Mrs. Robin Smith.

Casket bearers were Glen Jontra, Elgie Fickle, John Bowser, Francis Cass, Stanley Doggett, Will Simpson, and Willis A. Osborn.

Concluding services and burial were in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Howard.
