Eugene Jones was born in Cattaraugus County, New York, August 1, 1851,  He was married in 1873 to Julia Anne Hughes who departed this life on June 10, 1896.  To this union were born four sons and fuor daughters: Silas V. Jones of Moline, Will T. Jones of Modesto, California, Guy Jones of Clinton,, Iowa and Lloyd Jones of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Mollie Williams of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Minnie Snow of Fort Collins, Colorado, Mrs. Pearl Goodwin of Modesto, California and Mrs. Cora Harris of Moline who departed from this life May 12, 1912.

Mr. Jones was converted when young and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.  He was also a faithful member of the I.O.O. F. Lodge.

He departed this life at Moline, Kansas, February 6, 1928, age 76 years, six months and five days.

He leaves to mourn his departure, four sons, three daughters, twenty-three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services will be held at Moline, today, the 9th, at 3 p.m. at the M. E. church.

The publisher hereof has known Gene Jones ever since the Old Boston days of '72.  He has been a prompt paying and loyal subscriber of The Courant for almost 50 years.  He was a good citizen and a good man, and we mourn his passing as a personal bereavement.  The mourning family has our sincerest sympathy in their sorrow.
