Wednesday, May 8, 1940

When Arnold and Johnnie Roberts who live in Severy went out to their pasture, in the north edge of Elk county, Saturday morning they found seven head of their cattle dead.  Dr. G. W. Moon was called and after a thorough examination pronounced that the cattle, mostly milk cows, had died from eating young cockleburrs.

We have heard of others who have lost stock from eating the burrs, and it is very common in the spring when the weeds are small.

Well, now, how sad is that?   :(
