A $6,680.00 WPA project for road surfacing in Elk County started this week, will employ 30 men for three months, according to Clarence Nevins, state WPA director.

The project consists of surfacing 5.5 miles of county road with 1 inch crusher run limestone to make a complete surfaced road north out of Longton connecting to an already surfaced road running east and west between Howard and Fredonia.

Sponsored by the county, the project was submitted to WPA by J. J. Wardrip, county engineer.

Another WPA project, also, sponsored by the county and submitted by county engineer Wardrip, consists of grading and surfacing 5.15 miles of county roads beginning at the west sixteenth corner of the southwest quarter of Section 6, township 30, range 11, thence southeast from Howard 5. 15 miles.
