John Franklin Elliott died at his home in this city on Tuesday. March 28th, at 2:30 p.m.

Mr. Elliott was born in Decatur county, Indiana on the 5th day of January 1853; age 63 years, two months, 23 days.

He came to Kansas in the spring of 1873, settling in Montgomery County, and later he came to Elk County, and made Howard his home until he was called to his eternal home.

Brother Elliott professed faith in Christ as his personal Savior several years ago and united with the First Baptist church of this city.  He was married to Josephine Jones on July 3, 1881, to this union three children were born, two boys and one girl, two of them dying in their infancy; and in 1901 the death angel visited the home and bore the mother away.

In 1904 Mr Elliott was married to Louise Bailey, to this union one child was born.

In his death he leaves a wife, one son, William Franklin of this county, and one little daughter, Gladys, four brothers, viz; J. A. and William Elliott of Elk City, Robert of Colorado Springs, and J. W. Elliott, of Augusta, Kansas, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.

The funeral service was conducted by his pastor, O. L. Weir, in the First Baptist church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and his body was laid to rest in Grace Lawn cemetery.
