DeAnne Michelle Giesy passed away February 26. 2025 in Seabrook, Texas.  She was born on May 21, 1975 to John "Larry" and Joyce Karryn (Goodnight) Giesy.

DeAnne was raised in Alief, Texas and spent most of her life in the Houston area.  Growing up, DeAnne and her family were active parishioners of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she was educated in the world of the Lord and received the sacraments of first Reconciliation, first Communion, and Confirmation.  DeAnne carried faith in God her entire life including her final days.

DeAnne was an outstanding Girl Scout and enjoyed many years of togetherness with her mother as a Scout leader.  She was also an athlete who played softball from T-Ball through high school where she earned her way on to All-Star travel teams.  She also excelled with music which she absolutely loved.  In elementary school she learned to play the piano and later joined the Alief Middle School Band to play the trombone.  In high school, she played in the Elsik Mighty Ram Band where she won multiple UIL awards with her trombone.  In her free time, she taught herself to play the saxophone, clarinet, flute, and trumpet.

DeAnne excelled in academics while attending Alief Schools where she achieved honors program status and graduated from Elsik in 1994.  She later attended Texas A&M Galveston, University of Houston, and HCC to earn a business degree.

Eventually, DeAnne met and married Howard "Rocky" Viveney and helped raised a stepson as her own.  She loved spending time with her family, especially when it involved being outdoors.  She hiked regularly and absolutely loved being on the water and fishing.  She was a great angler.  She spent many days on Galveston Bay and beaches where were happy places for her.  DeAnne loved animals and owned many pets throughout her life; always with a dog that would rarely leave her side, but other pets included cats, birds, and occasionally a rabbit.  She would rescue any animal that needed it and would volunteer at animal shelters whenever she could.  DeAnne truly had a big heart for all of God's creatures, especially those who needed help.

DeAnne is survived by her stepson, Theodore Viveney; her brother, David (Lindsay) Giesy and their two daughters; her aunts, Sharon (Giesy) Salinas and LeAnne (Giesy) Haas; and numerous other cousins.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard "Rocky" Viveney; her parents, John "Larry" and Joyce Giesy; her aunts, Betty Goodnight and Darlene Dameron; her uncles, Darrel Dameron, Jack Goodnight, and Mort Terry, and her cousin, Karen Carlisle.

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord".

A graveside service will be held for DeAnne on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at10:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery near Moline, Kansas.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
