Larry Gene Robert of Emporia, Kansas, passed away October 11, 2024 at Presbyterian Manor of Emporia.  He was 84 years old.  He was born on August 26, 1940 in Eureka, Kansas, the son of Henry and Nellie (Smith) Robert.

Larry graduated from Severy High School in Severy, Kansas.  He married Kathy Benest on November 5, 1961 in Pratt, Kansas.  After moving to Emporia in 1972, Larry managed the south Reeble's Grocery Store for 28 years.  He enjoyed haying, raising cattle, cutting wood, and spending time with his family.  You could always find him cheering on the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and KU Basketball.  He was a member of the Emporia First Church of the Nazarene. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; his sons, Troy (Kim) Robert of Parkville, Missouri, Todd (Holly) Robert of Olpe, Kansas, and Thad (Tiffanie) Robert of Emporia, Kansas; his daughter, Tara (Monte) McConnaughy of Hutchinson, Kansas; his sister, Joyce Sayers, of Douglasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Jayden (Robbie) Martinez, Riley Robert, Isabel Littlejohn, Nick Littlejohn, Kynden Robert, Kadey Robert, Trenton Robert, Tanner (Nikita) Robert, Toria Robert, Taban Robert, Tyler Robert, Tessa Robert, and Mason, Asher, Garrett, and Ava McConnaughy; and great-grandchildren, Irene Robert and Landen Martinez.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Elwin, Elden, Wes, Morris, Francis, and Floyd Robert; and his sister, Melba Weyrauch. 

Cremation has been effected.  A Celebration of Life was held in Emporia, Kansas on October 19, 2024.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Emporia Presbyterian Manor Garden Club or St. Jude's Children's Cancer Hospital and may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801 which has been entrusted with arrangements.
