With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mark Arthur Davis of Parker, Kansas whose presence will be deeply missed.  He departed this life on August 31, 2024 at the age of 52.

Though Mark has departed this earthly realm, his legacy endures, a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours.  May his spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church, 1402 E. 303rd Street, Paola, Kansas 66071.  Memorials are suggested to the Pleasanton Saddle Club in care of Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box 525, Pleasanton, Kansas 66075.

On August 30, 2024, a tragic event occurred at the Pleasanton Saddle Club.  Mark Arthur Davis, a cherished member and announcer, passed away under heartbreaking circumstances.  Mark was an integral part of our club, known for his beautiful voice on the microphone, enthusiastic participation in events, and dedication to training and mentoring our saddle club kids.  Mark will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

In honor of Mark's memory, a benefit shodeo will be held at a later date to be determined very soon.  We invite all who knew Mark to join us in praying for comfort and peace for his family and friends.

Mark Arthur Davis, age 52, of Parker, Kansas, passed away on August 31, 2024 after a tragic equine accident.  He was born on May 26, 1972 in Sedan, Kanas to Teddy "Ted" and Sara K. "Kathy" Davis. 

Mark attended Moline Grade School in Moline, Kansas and graduated from West Elk Jr.-Sr. High School in Howard, Kansas in 1990.  Growing up, Mark was very active in football and baseball and was a member of the National Honor Society. He loved camping, singing with family, playing baseball coached by his dad, riding horses, and his Tonka trucks.  After high school, he attended Kansas State University and Emporia State University. 

In 1993, Mark married Disnie McBee, and from that union came four children, Barrett, Foster, Winston, and Lillian.  Mark followed in his dad's footsteps by coaching his sons' ball teams and was proud to attend his daughter's dance recitals.  In 1996, Mark joined the Operating Engineers Local 1010 Union as a Heavy Equpment Operator and got to live out his childhood dream by being a professional Tonka Truck driver.  In more recent years, Mark followed his true passion of raising horses, competing, and announcing at Fun Shows and rodeos.  He also started a DJ and Karaoke business as Big Feather Legend, spending countless hours entertaining at local venues and events. 

Mark is survived by his children, Barrett (Kylee) of Belton, Missouri, Foster (Kelsey) of Belton, Missouri, Winston of Kansas City, Missouri. and Lillian of Shawnee, Kansas; his siblings, Matthew "Matt" (RuthAnn) of Neodesha, Kansas, Tamara "Tammy" (Tim) Bobb of Livingston, Texas, and Trisha Davis of Wichita, Kansas; and granddaughter, Baylee, and future grandson.  He also had several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.  Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art and Ethel (Spivey) Davis and Bob and Lulu (Burns) Shocklee; his parents, Ted and Kathy Davis; and his childhood best friend, Timothy Willhite. 

A memorial service was held on September 7, 2024 at the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church in Paola, Kanas.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasanton Saddle Club in care of Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box 525, Pleasanton, Kansas 66075.
