John Manuel "Manny" Hernandez, age 41, of Burrton, Kansas, passed away August 25, 2024 at his home.  He was born September 27, 1982 to John Hernandez and Brenda McPherson in Wichita, Kansas.

Manny grew up in Wichita, Kansas, attending Wichita South High School where he excelled as a linebacker on the football team and as a catcher for the baseball team for the Wichita South Titans.  Later, at a chance Moline alumni event in May 2001, Manny met the love of his life, his wife, Christina Wiseman.  On June 16, 2007, the couple were married in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  They shared 23 wonderful years raising three children and creating a life of love, laughter, and joy.

Manny dedicated many years serving his community on the Burrton school board.  He spent a significant amount of his professional career serving as a store manager for Wal-Mart in Wichita, Kansas.  He just recently received his 15-year plaque.  He took great pride in caring for all his family members and friends.  He was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching his three children excel in several different sports.  He was the family jokester, and as his wife says, "many didn't know when he was being serious or when it was sarcasm".  Above all, Manny treasured his time spent with his wife, kids, family, and friends.  He will be deeply missed, but his memories will live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.

Manny is survived by his wife, Christina of the home; his children, Jazmin (Ethan) Folks of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Leif (fiance Madison Diaz) of Washington, D.C., and Trystan of the home; his father, John Hernandez of Moline, Kansas;  his in-laws, Randy and Patty Wiseman of Howard, Kansas; and his brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Sherry Wiseman of Latham, Kansas.  Manny was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda McPherson; his grandmother, Antonia Hernandez; and his uncle, James Hernandez.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 2, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas on September 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Moline.  In lieu of flowers, the J. Manuel Hernandez Memorial Fund has been set up in care of Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 which has been entrusted with arrangements.
