Sandra Simpson, age 85, of Longton, Kansas, passed away on February 22, 2024.  She was born January 17, 1939 to her parents, Ernest Ashenfelter and Augusta Stowers. 

Sandra attended Moorehead and Altamont schools in Kansas and later attended St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas where she obtained her license as a Registered Nurse.  She was well-known for her hard work.  She was employed for several physician's offices, nursing homes, and hospitals.  She taught at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas for a short time.  In her free time, she loved quilting, crocheting, singing, and playing the piano.

Sandra is survived by her daughters, Erin (Bud) Kill and Dawn White; grandchildren, Katrina, Ashley, Jeremy, Heather, and Sierra; and great-grandchildren, Lorelai, Wren, Sullivan, Jack, Veda, LexiRae, and Elise.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kevin and Sean; and daughters, Stephanie and Denise.

There will be a graveside service held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Wichita Park Cemetery, 2500 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.  Memorial contributions can be made to either the Longton Youth Ministry or the Longton Easter Egg Hunt and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas has been entrusted with arrangements.
