James Eugene Allen, age 64, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on September 24, 2023 with family by his side.  He was the son of Jim and Dee Allen.

James grew up in a military family, moving many times in his early years.  The family settled in Midland, Texas where James graduated high school in 1978.  James and Jayne met in Midland, Texas.  They moved to Gaylord, Michigan to raise their sons, returing to Texas after their sons graduated from school.  In 2008, they bought and renovated a famiy home in Grenola, Kansas.  James retired in 2020.

James loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with his family.  His grandchildren were a constant joy to him.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jayne Allen; his sons, Tim (Mary) Allen of Dubai, Garrett (Melinda) Allen of Grenola, Kansas, and Randy (Kari) Allen of Moline, Kansas; and 8 grandchildren who will miss him greatly.  Also surviving are his sister, Diana Bales of Austin, Texas and his brother, Robert (Susan) Allen of Ore City, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Dee Allen of Hawkins, Texas.

The family will receiev friends at visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Memorial contributions to honor James can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
