Pauline Louise Bellar, age 94, of Howard, Kansas, passed away March 17, 2023 at Morningstar Care Home in Neodesha, Kansas.  She was born on April 13, 1928 in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Altavert and Blanche Coble.

Pauline graduated from Severy High School in Severy, Kasns.  She received her teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas and taught for a short time in Fall River, Kansas.  She was also a secretary at Howard High School and worked for many years at Production Credit Association in Howard. 

On February 12, 1955, she married Robert Edward Bellar, and they made their first home in Howard and later moved out to Bob's family's farm west of town.  To this marriage were born three children, Mike, Marcene, and Becky.

Pauline was a member of the Howard Methodist Church, Lamplighters Circle, and Chapter R PEO.  She was very active in church, 4-H, and all her chidlren's activities.  She enjoyed sewing, going to dances on Saturday nights at the Fair Barn in Howard, playing bridge, and she made made the best peanut brittle and divinity.  She took a lot of pride in keeping her yard and flower beds well attended.  As her grandchildren came along, she sewed clothes for them, attended spellings bees, competitions, graduations, and all activities.

Pauline is survived by her son, Mike (Peggy) Bellar; daughter, Becky (Keith) Lanning; brother, Ted (Barbara) Coble; sister-in-law, Donna (Floyd) Coble; nine grandchildren, Evan, Kolby, Chelsea, Ben, Luke, Sarah, Ethan, Rachel, and Katy; four great-grandchildren, Piper, Maddie, Greer, and Abilene; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Altavert and Blanche Coble; her husband, Bob Bellar; her daughter, Marcene (Terry) Stevens; her sisters, Lorene Pape and Leta Brookover; her brothers, Floyd and Glenn Coble; and her half-brothers, George and Bob Coble.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Howard United Methodist Church.  Private family burial will follow.  Memorials are suggested to the Howard United  Methodist Church.
