Ethel Viola "Vi" Ammons, age 81, of Moline, Kansas, passed away November 22, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas.  She was born July 27, 1941 in Kannapolis, North Carolina to Olin and Ethel Hunter and grew up alongside three siblings.

Growing up, she loved to stay up all night watching T.V. with her mom and then spending the weekends hanging out with her older sister, Thelma.  After graduating high school, Vi attended college and graduated with a degree in Accounting.  She worked for awhile teaching school but quickly decided that was not her calling.  She then opened her own Accounting firm which she continued doing until retirement.  After retiring, Vi moved to Moline, Kansas to be close to friends who had moved to the area earlier.

Vi made lots of friends in Moline and would talk to anyone that would listen.  She would sit at the Q-Mart and visit with everyone that came in the door.  Sometimes, she would sit right by the register so you had to talk to her to pay for your merchandise.  She also made a special friend at the local hair salon.  She began getting her hair done by Mary Ellen Moreno, and the two hit it off.  Vi became very close friends with the entire family, and when her health started to declne, Mary Ellen took care of her.

Vi was a feisty, quick-witted lady, and she loved her friends and family.  She had a special bond with her nephew, Don, who she helped raise.  She considered him like a son, and he continued to be importnat to her.  She also had two cats that were like her kids, Maggie Mae and Patches.  Some of her hobbies were collecting baseball cards, coins, stamps, and antiques.  She also enjoyed visiting and attendding every church in Moline.

Vi is survived by her sister, Thelma Curlie and three nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Don and Baxter.

A memorial service wil be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
