Ray Edward "Baby Cake" Wheaton, age 58, of Howard, Kansas, passed away on September 8, 2022 at his home.  He was born September 8, 1964 in Sedan, Kansas to Eddie and Marion (Long) Wheaton.

Ray graduated from Sedan High School in the Class of 1983.  He was employed at Arbuckle Trash Service and was a former employee of Bellar Family Farms for 20+ years. 

On April 30, 2022, Ray married Diana Worden in Howard, Kansas.  He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially the grandkids.  It didn't matter if they were shooting guns, going to a demolition derby or what the occasion was, he just wanted to be with them.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting for deer sheds, and going to auctions.  He was a collector of all types of things, and he would always find something to buy at an auction which he attended pretty much every week.

Ray is survived by his wife, Diana; his son, Robert (Kaittlin) Ford; his daughters, Elisha Crupper and Shelly (Darren) Underwood; his grandchildren, Logan, C. J. , and Olivia Patten, Allee (Jonathan) Clark; Darren II and Kaden Underwood, and Kennedy and Hayley Ford; his great-grandchildren, Ryker and Kyler Clark; his father, Eddie Ray Wheaton; his brother, Preston "Pete" Wheaton, his sisters, Edie (Bradley ) Zimmerman and Vanita (Jeff) Steenberger; nieces and nephews, Jocelyn, Jayton, Stephanie, Brooklynne, and Jimmy; and his best fur buddy, Tinker.  He was preceded in death by his mother, his grandparents; and his nephew, J.D. 

A memorial service will be held at the Elk County Fairgounrds in Howard on October 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m..  Friends and family are welcome to attend.  Memorial contriubutions can be made in Ray's honor to Smile Train where your contribution will assist in saving a child's life with the gift of cleft treatment.  These can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
