Douglas Lee "Doug" Moore, age 71, of Rose Hill, Kansas and formerly of Howard, Kansas, passed away July 21, 2022 at Rock Regional Hospital in Derby, Kansas.  He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Paul and Izola (Rarick) Moore on August 31, 1950.

Doug attended the Howard public schools and graduated from Howard High School in 1969.  After graduating, he got his first job in the Howard Pool Hall.  After several years of working there, an opportunity to buy it from the retiring owner presented itself, and Doug's Place was born!!!  For the next 30+ years, Doug and his dad entertained and fed many locals from high schoolers to senior citizens.  Doug's Place was a highlight of Main Street with pool, arcade games, dominoes, a jukebox, pickled eggs, and red beer.  Doug was a fantastic business man and ran his place well.  When he wasn't at work, he thoroughly enjoyed going out to the family farm.  It was his favorite place to get some fresh air, and he had a mission to cut down all those "pesky cedar trees".

As the family of three aged and needed more support, Doug and his parents lived together for many yearsw at Twilight Manor in Howard.  After Paul's death, Doug and Izola moved to Fountainview Nursing Home in Rose Hill, Kansas in 2015 which was closer to his sister, Paula.

Doug passed the time there doing beautiful puzzles, singing with visiting churches, and watching tons of sports.  He loved the Royals, Chiefs, Jayhawks, Wildcats, and Shockers.  His daily attire often boasted of his loyal support for these teams.  Doug was a lifelong member of the Howard Methodist Church and a connoisseur of Toot's cheeseburgers and milkshakes.

Doug is survived by his sister, Paula and Richard Pearson, his brother, Pat Moore, his nieces and nephews, Chad, Shay, Billy, Tasha, Scott, Emily, Garrett, and Jana; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Satchel, Chloe, Jon, Linen, Camryn, Holden, Sutton, Brooke, Bree, Lily, Ivy, and Abby; and his great-great nieces, Isla, Lucca, Zolia, and Mia.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Izola Moore.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Howard United Methodist Church in Howard, Kansas.  Interment will follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Howard United Methodist Church and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
