Darrell Lee Washington, age 77, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away at his home on June 25, 2022.  He was born on January 2, 1945 in Ft. Benning, Georgia, the son of Leo Benjamin and Alma (Patterson) Worthington.

After graduating from high school, Darrell joined the United States Army.  He worked as a Software Engineer until his retirement.  He loved working with computers and any kind of electronic equipment.  He enjoyed playing video games and listening to the older style of country and western music.

On May 14, 2021, Darrell married Elaine Nesmith.  She survives at their home.  Other survivors include four children, Sheila, Karla, Russell, and Darrell; four brothers; and numerous grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, and his previous wife, Bonnie.

Cremation has been requested, and no services are planned at this time.  Inurnment will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.  Memorials have been suggested to Compassion International in his memory which may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
