Steven LeRoy Seimears, age 70, of Independence, Kansas and formerly of Severy, Kansas and Sedan, Kansas, passed away February 3, 2022 at his home.  He was born on July 3, 1951 at Eureka, Kansas to George Walter Wesley "Babe" and Alpha May (VanZandt) Seimears. 

Steven grew up and attended school in Severy, graduating from Severy High School.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving in the United States Navy from January 1971 until receiving his honorable discharge in December 1974.  He then returned to the Severy area.  On August 10, 1974, he was united in marriage to Renita Nusz at Severy.  Following their marriage, they made their home in the Severy and Howard area.  The couple later moved to the Sedan area where Steven oversaw maintenance at the Sedan City Hospital for over 20 years.  They moved to Independence, Kansas two years ago.

Steven was a member of the Southern Baptist Church.  He enjoyed woodworking and loved spending time with his family. 

Survivors include his wife, Renita of the home; two sons, Eric Seimears of Severy, Kansas and Caleb Seimears of Lenexa, Kasnas; three sisters, Frances Marie Barrier, Juaneva June Lakin, and Cora Sue Thornton; two brothers, Frank "Allen" Seimears and Charles Lee Seimears; and five grandchldlren, Danielle, John, and Raelyn Seimears and Gideon and Ruth Seimears, both of Lenexa, Kansas.  Steven was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Walt Seimears, George Edwin Seimears, and James "Leon" Seimears; and four sisters, Pegggy JoAnn Seimears, Gertrude "Trudy" Lakin, Lucretia Applegate, and Ella Eloise Knight.

Friends may call on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1;00 P.M. at the Severy Southern Baptist Church in Severy, Kansas with his brother, Pastor Allen Seimears, officiating.  Burial will follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kasnas with military honors conducted by the Untied States Navy Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Steven's memory to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.  Contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W.
