Judith Lynne "Judy" French, loved by her family, passed away on January 4, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City, Kansas at the age of 84.  She was born on November 14, 1937 in Cedar Vale, Kansas to Everett and Matilda (Dudgeon) Huddle.

Judy was a graduate of Cedar Vale High School, Class of 1955.  After graduation, she attended business school.  She married Lowell French on May 6, 1956 and they started farming and raising a family outside of Grenola, Kansas.  She was a member of the Grenola United Methodist Church and a past 4-H leader.  She was a talented cook, seamstress, and quilter and loved to read, play on her computer, and make her family's favorite foods.

Judy stayed home raising her children until they were all of school age.  She then started her career in food and nutrition.  She was the head cook at the school in Grenola and then cooked at nursing homes in Cedar Vale, Kansas and Dexter, Kansas.  She owned the Flint Hills Cafe in Grenola for 6 years.  She also managed and cooked for the Grenola Senior Center before retiring.

Judy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lowell French; her six children, Alan (Linda) French, Michele Scott, Janet French, Robert (JoAnn) French, Gayle (Jeff) Brown, and Roger (Reann) French; 13 grandchildren;  3 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Phyllis Hawkins; and her two brothers, Curtis Huddle and Cordan Huddle.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grenola United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola,.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Judy's memory to the Grenola United Methodist Church or the Grenola Senior Center.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
